‘Anything, just play it loud, ok?!’
So, I listen to music. No shock there. I’m sure you do too but you might have wondered what it is I listen to when I write. I actually have several playlists that I have built over the years. These I play in the background whist I tap away at the keyboard. To call them an eclectic mix of tracks would be doing them an injustice. As I work my way through a story I drag this track and that track from my main playlists into a purpose-built one for the book. By the end, I have a list of themes and mental images, some more obscure than others. Some I have in my head as the soundtrack to a scene or the imaginary credit roll at the end of the imaginary movie. Others are tracks I use just to get into the mood for writing.
Anyway, I thought it would be good therapy to allow the world a little further into my brain. Below are listed just a few of the tracks that have had either a direct or indirect affect on the production of Havoc, my first novel. There are over four hundred and forty tracks in total so I wasn’t going to list them all. They have no specific order, in fact here they are listed in alphabetical order (that’s just how iTunes exported the list) so don’t read anything into the order of tracks. For some reason there seems to be a lot of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The author cannot explain this…
