06.09.1101.4 Gurden declared war on the Clock islands. To date this is the shortest war in the country’s history, lasting just over five hours. The Clock Islands, with no standing army and a population of only two thousand (including the goats), already considered themselves Gurdonean citizens. They surrendered immediately on hearing of the hostilities. The war only lasted five hours due to an oversight and an official communiqué becoming buried in someone’s in-tray.
